D'Nealian Handwriting Worksheets

What is D'Nealian Font?

Many people believe that one's writing style tells a great deal about a person's personality. There are thousands of different writing styles in the world, and all have unique characteristics. D'Nealian font is also one of the many writing styles that people use in this world. It is not only a writing style but also a form of teaching cursive and manuscript English handwriting. The font was designed by a primary school teacher, Donald Thurber, in 1978. It was introduced as a system to address the issues faced in teaching children the traditional script method. It was initially used to alleviate subsequent difficulty transitioning to cursive writing.

How to Improve Your Penmanship

Improved penmanship or handwriting is something that is becoming obsolete by the day as more and more people are shifting towards the digital form of writing. The major shift from penmanship to digital writing using a stylus has made improving penmanship an activity seen tempting in the past. Still, for some people who are more inclined towards old-school habits, this shift from penmanship to digital writing is considered as against the normal. Many people spend a lot of time learning cursive writing, and the fact that it takes time learning that technique justifies the beauty of it. Usually, it takes a 30-days exercise to learn and master cursive writing. Improved penmanship is still considered as an attribute, and people still consider it as something that cannot be mastered easily.

What is Manuscript Writing?

Preparing a manuscript after writing a literature review, as per proper guidelines, is something related to academic writing. Academic writing is a discipline that cannot be mastered that easily, and it isn’t some talent that one is born with. It requires proper study, and one can excel in it only when they have properly studied it and taken a degree or a certification. A person cannot claim that they are a professional academic writer and can write manuscripts unless they have studied this discipline is detail and have an in-depth knowledge regarding the subject. Manuscript writing is one of the most important parts of academic writing, and it is something that is delivered to and perceived by your receiver as soon as they receive your work. Without a manuscript, you may not make much sense, and it may seem to the receiver as something incomplete. A manuscript consists of an abstract, main text, references and notes, acknowledgments, and supplementary materials.

How Does D'Nealian Handwriting Compare to Other Forms?

It all began in 1968 when Donald Neal created a writing pattern and named it D'Nealian handwriting. It involves a unique, lowercase manuscript alphabet. Each letter in the handwriting is slightly slanted, and some of them have corresponding cursive letters. However, if we compare this elegant writing style with others, there are different criteria to look into. For instance, if you want your child to understand the alphabets; then, the D'Nealian style of writing isn't the best option. On the other hand, if your child is ready to learn the art of different writing styles; then, this handwriting is the perfect one to start with.
