What Are Short Vowels?
A short vowel can be explained as a vowel letter whose sound is pronounced in the same way as that letter's phonic. For example, the short vowel U will have the sound of 'uh' such as the sound of U in words like 'cub' or 'tub'. The placement of articles 'a' or 'an' is determined by whether a word first vowel letter is a long vowel or a short vowel. If it's a short vowel, the placement of 'an' or 'a' is decided by the sound that is made while a speaker starts to say/pronounce that word.
Vowels are part of the English alphabet. There are five vowels, sometimes six, when y acts as a vowel. There are two types of vowels, and these are long vowels and short vowels. Here long vowels are those that are pronounced in a similar way to a letter's name. Short vowel sounds are when a vowel occurs individually between two consonants. The arrangement looks like; consonant-vowel-consonant. The vowel sounds pronounced in a short form are the short vowels. While long vowels are pronounced in the same way as the name of the letter itself, a short vowel is when these letters are pronounced in the same way as the sound of the letter. Plate, crate, bait, bread, front, young, entrée, because busy, women, gym, are all forms of short vowel sounds.
