What Are Suffixes?

A suffix is a letter, or a group of letters added to the end of a word to change its meaning or make it grammatically correct. Suffixes are the opposite of prefixes, which are added at the front of the word, while the suffix is added at the back of the word. Some of the examples of suffixes are as follows: Joyous, Tenderness, Effectiveness.

What Do You Call A...

A suffix comes at the end of a word. You can name someone who does something, something that does something, or someone who provides or is involved with something by adding the suffix "-er" to the end of a verb.
