What is Life Science?
As the name indicates, in this field of study we explore life on Earth. From things as small as viruses to as large as the blue whale the Earth is home to 8.7 million different species of animals. Within in this field there are several subsets of topics including Botany, Ecology, Entomology, Epidemiology, Genetics, Marine Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Paleontology, Zoology. Botany focuses on the study of Earth’s over 400,000 species of plants. Zoology on the other hand focuses on the study of animals. Ecology looks at how these living things interact with the environment around them. Microbiology explores the smallest living things there are which just happen to be mostly bacteria and viruses. All these different branches of life science have helped us improve our individual lives and health as well as allow us to begin to sustain the planet for future generations. There are many fascinating turns and twists that this field of study takes. Students are often quickly engaged to learn about all the creepy crawlies of life.

Human Body Systems
We explore all the major human organ systems and many different main tissues and body parts.

Ecosystems
We take a look at how living things interact with their environment which includes nutrition, biomes, food chains and nature webs.

Endangered Animals
A look at the common vocabulary and lingo that helps us better understand this topic.

Fossils
We learn how to gauge the relative age of a fossil based on the fossil record.

Health
The goal here is in reinforcing healthy personal habits that extend our life and the quality of it, such as proper nutrition.

Senses
Students explore the five human senses, their use, and the organs that process all this information

Stages of Life
We classify the difference between living and non-living things and follow different organisms through their growth process from a baby to adult stages.

Types of Plants and Animals
We help students learn the differences between different organisms and determine where they call home.

Life Science Vocabulary
A deep look into commonly used vocabulary and terms that are related to biology.
